Why did the cop shoot him?
That’s true - it’s also true that on twin engine recip’s when one engine goes out the other one will get you to the scene of the accident.
He was waving an air rifle around inside the store, allegedly pointing it at customers. A customer called the police and reported his behavior, not knowing if the gun was real or a toy. When the police arrived they told him to put the gun down and he didn’t. So they shot him.

He had a gun (toy) and wouldn’t put it down. The 911 caller stated he had been threatening people with it. Many people believe he was creating a disturbance so his girlfriend could shoplift. Maybe, maybe not, no one understands any of this because it’s so bizarre.

I wonder if they made any effort to ascertain whether he was holding a toy or a loaded rifle.
They honestly didn’t know what to think, because the customer who called the police told them it looked real, but Crawford himself said “It’s a toy” when he was told to put it down. He should have just put it down, and let the officers determine it was a toy. He would be alive and the customer who led the police to believe it might be real would be the man in trouble.
It seems to me toys should be packaged in such a way that they cannot be removed from the packaging at the store, to eliminated such confusion. That’s what we would all be discussing had Crawford been white.

I think the answer is to give a Marie Laveau shriek, sing “Another moron done gone,” and move on.
