Yes. It’s fascinating that this TV exec, Aubrey, who seems to have been a real scumbag, coined the term “flyover country”.

Yes, she was . . . and she still looked like a teenager. I loved how she interacted with critters and put a headlock on guys who got too fresh with her.

She was an ideal country gal for sure!

“She ran for Congress in the 80’s from Pennsylvania and Buddy Ebsen cut adds for her Republican opponent. She lost and never forgave him for actively campaigning against her.”

As I understand it, Kulp’s campaign ran radio ads which made it sound as if her surviving beverly hillbillies cast mates supported her candidacy when they did not. They (max baer, buddy ebsen, and donna) were all republicans. It was kulps radio ads that prompted ebsen to make those ads for her opponent.

I patterned my life after the teachings of Jethro Bodine.

So what career path did you decide on...brain surgeon or soda jerk?

The Clampett’s always addressed Mr. Drysedale’s secretary as “Miss Jane.”

Never knew about the voice being dubbed. I always thought Max was just speaking in falsetto.

Learn something every day, if I’m lucky.

Same here...as a kid I thought Elly May was one of the coolest characters on television because of her love for animals and all her exotic “critters.”

In my opinion granny *WAS* the show.

IMO Jed *and* Granny were the stars.Ellie Mae,Jethro and the rest were good but Ellie and Jethro were basically eye candy for the younger guys and gals.IMO Hillbillies lost it when they went color...I best liked the first few seasons,

I remember on one episode, Jethro was going to hold a séance, in order to contact the spirit world.

Miss Jane: “Jethro, you’re not a medium!”

Jethro: “I know, I’m an extra large!”

There are so many wonderful episodes to quote from. One of my favorites is when Jethro bought a rocket, strapped a saddle onto it, loaded it with granny's moonshine and launched himself to the moon.

The next scene showed a helicopter lifting him out of the ocean and his first words were "Hey! Where's all the moon maidens?!"

I could cite several scenes from various episodes by memory. That show was absolutely hilarious.

I still refer to any large, individual portion of food as a “Jethro bowl”.

I patterned my life after the teachings of Jethro Bodine.

I take it you're a brain surgeon who eats his corn flakes out of a mixing bowl.
