Embarrassing.
YIKES.
he puts the F-U in FUnny.
good thing he isn’t talking about rape rape.
If he’s smart....if....next Sunday there will be a strip making fun of himself for screwing up so badly.
Meh. Trudeau is a leftist moron. A slightly more refined version of Ted Rall. Complete garbage.
Read the article, it might have had something to do with lead time. Still, you’d think the publishers would have some sort of contingency plan, an old strip to paste in when the one in the pipeline needed to be pulled. I suppose the dead tree distribution chain has a long lead time.
And, somehow, I thought he was actually going to produce a punch line after BD mentioned it.
Stuck in the 60’s..............I bet he still listens to Grateful Dead tapes..................
“Dad’s right, Mom. Our brand’s at risk.”
Ironically, truer than he intended.
Strips like these will keep Hillary from the White House, if only to keep her serial predator husband out. Bill Cosby is just the warm-up act.
IIRC, Trudeau doesn’t actually do the strip any more. He has underlings for that now...................
"Dad's right, Mom. Our brand's at risk."
He absolutely knew about this before it was going to run, he just doesn’t care ‘because the point was the same’ or some crappola.
“We had some internal discussion about whether the flaws in the [Rolling Stone] reporting mattered here, and we concluded they didnt, Trudeau says.”
“For any newspaper editors who might have balked at the campus-rape Doonesbury comic, a substitute strip was at the ready. The syndicate tells Comic Riffs that it received replacement requests from the Chicago Tribune, the Bergen Record, the Providence Journal and the Evansville Courier.”
FReegards
Doonesbury might (<— Notice I said MIGHT) have been mildly humorous...back in the early 1970s. I’m surprised it’s still around.
That one I don’t get.
‘Our brand’?....what the heck is he talking about?............
I think it's proof=positive that no one reads Doonesbury. Or cares.
They publish it because they always have.
fwiw he gave the commencement at UVA in 1974. His address was not entertaining then and his comic strip is equally tepid to this day.
