Too bad "Black Annie" couldn't have had a decent writer or director.

Even the liberal LA and NY Times are saying it's lousy.

I saw a preview of the movie last week - it looked like a cute movie that kids will like since most have never seen the original. The actress playing Annie is cute and, at least from the clips I saw, very personable on the screen - but the story line is updated and different so I'm sure I would just keep comparing the story.
