A toddler's father has accidentally sliced off one of her feet with a lawnmower.
Eighteen-month-old Roseanne Mendez was playing in her family's garden in North Fresno, California on December 7 as her father, Reyes Mendez, trimmed the edges of the grass.
The youngster was climbing on a swing set with her siblings and she came off the slide, the lawnmower cut off her foot, KMPH reported.
Mr Mendez ran to a nearby house and frantically asked neighbor Lisa Bertelsen to call 911.

McQuay personally delivered the money to the family in San Francisco on Sunday, and although the parents do not speak English, he said he could see how appreciative they were.

Just wondering out loud how well communication went between the father and the neighbor.../s
I’m wondering if the guy is a moron. No situational awareness or something.
The poor child!
That too. Besides the fact that no DM reporter saw fit to put their name to this feel-good tripe about an idiot illegal (the ‘breadwinner’, mind you) not only soaking the system but soaking donations from feel-gooders. Moron/idiot is too kind.
I feel for the kid. But, Californians: You brought this on yourselves. Bankrupt your State but don’t ask me to pay for it.
Jeez, the thought of the possibility of this type of thing happening to them is one of the things that give parents nightmares.
The answer to your question: Si
“Never use your hand to remove jammed material from a lawnmower”
Why do you say that, lefty?
It should be enough for a parent to be aware enough to avoid it happening.
HoHoHo
Kids should be nowhere near any lawn mower in use. The flying rocks and debris alone can take your head off.
Remember the day when my dad sent a 2 pound rock through the picture window and almost into the TV on the other side of the room. (High grass and the first cutting of the year. The frost had heaved it up just above ground level.)
This story brings to mind our Mormon neighbors, (they had nine children who ran wild day and night). One day I kept hearing what I thought was hysterical loud laughter coming from their yard, there was always something going on there and so I disregarded it. After about five minutes, I realized it wasn’t laughter. The dad had been running the lawnmower on a hill and slipped. The lawnmower was on top if his leg and he couldn’t get it off. Evidently no one in his home was paying attention, so I ran over, pulled the mower off of him. Totally gruesome, the foot was pretty much off and the leg was like hamburger. They saved his leg but the foot was not able to be saved.
Why is this being posted here??? Of what use is this article to us?
Maybe you should read the friggin article and the tags; you might get it.
A year ago, a dad ran over his daughter inmy area. The father backed up over his daughter, when his wife signaled hI’m to stop. He is upset at himself but the community pitched in to fund her new legs.
Never ever let kids play outside when someone is operating a lawnmower, chainsaw, welder, etc.
Yes, agreed.
