Sony Cancels Theatrical Release for The Interview on Christmas
With theater chains defecting en masse, Sony Pictures Entertainment has pulled the planned Christmas Day release of The Interview.
In announcing the decision to cancel the holiday debut, Sony hit back at the hackers who threatened movie theaters and moviegoers and who have terrorized the studio and its employees for weeks.
Those who attacked us stole our intellectual property, private emails and sensitive and proprietary material, and sought to destroy our spirit and our morale all apparently to thwart the release of a movie they did not like, the statement reads.
We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company, our employees, and the American public, it continues. We stand by our filmmakers and their right to free expression and are extremely disappointed by this outcome.

Who is going to distribute it. If you were the IT guy for that company could you assure the CEO that your servers could survive the hacking onslaught that could put your company out of business?
I am not sure Apple or Netflix or AMazon want to risk that.
With the potential (if cards are played right) to turn this thing into perhaps a multibillion dollar national “event,” my guess is you could pull off the security.
“Straight to DVD” and they will rake in millions.
Remember when we used to have a President and a country? Those were the days.
I think it’s all a hoax. Brilliant publicity stunt.
This isn’t the jihad crowd, nobody who gets out of North Korea is not going to die attacking another nation for national pride.
And the hacked emails are totally lame even though they are trying to play it as a big deal
This incident will be used by the liberal elite (Democrats AND Republicans) to clamp down on the internet because the government can't allow all this internet freedom to cramp their money grabbing/vote buying schemes.
If Sony had any balls whatsoever they would show it in Madison Square Garden on New Years Day free of charge.
The Outhouse has already seen this movie. I saw this morning that a few months ago Sony sent a pre-release copy to the Comrade Kerry’s State Department for vetting. The Reds at Foggy Bottom and/or the Outhouse warned Kim is my guess.
Letting out the factoid about State and the movie may have been one of those things that disappears into the memory hole. Have not seen another mention of it in our fact-free news.
