The site itself is in great shape. Awesome monument to the Wright Bros. and flight at the top of the hill. Spent the whole week there for the 100th anniversary celebration in 2003.Two bad the replica flyer only made it about five feet before tipping over. Wind speed to get airborne was was too low.
It’s usually always quite breezy there.
Spent a week on the Outer Banks a few years ago, and the wind can make it a little chilly, even on a warm Summer day. It’s a beautiful place, just not a lot to do. Great for a ‘laid back’ type of vacation.
