Grinch is the second-highest grossing Christmas movie, behind only Home Alone. It does follow the book, but adds in depth to the story, including giving the Grinch a legitimate reason for being the way he is, and for hating Christmas and the Whos. It’s probably the second-best use of “rubber-face-era” Jim Carrey, after The Mask.

When Cedric said THAT line about the Reveruuund Jackson, I became in instant fan of his. The theater audience applauded loudly!

And oh yes. If you didn’t just love the movie then you’re a racist.

I have two rules for movie viewing:

1. I don't see any "black remake" of anything.
2. I don't anything featuring the racist POS Jamie Foxx. Foxx him.

It think much of the appeal of Barbershop had to do with hearing how blue collar men speak amongst themselves when no womenfolk were around. That crosses race and ethnicity. Queen Latifah followed that up with a female version called Beauty Shop. I didn’t see that one.

I just read one of the reviews and apparently The main character is Scarlett’s half sister- the mother being Mammy. Oh and the 3 sons that Gerald and Ellen had, yeah, apparently Mammy killed them...yeah and oh btw, Scarlett is really black but doesn’t know it.....see this is how good ideas go bad.

When I heard that actress was cast as “Annie”, I didn’t just assume it would suck because they cast a black girl. However, when I saw the commercial, and noticed:

* They cast Jamie Foxx as Daddy Warbucks, but changed his name to “Mr. Stacks” to hippen it up

and

* They put “Hard Knocks Life” to a hip hop beat, which Jay Z did 15 years ago, so it isn’t even new and original.

So, just from those 2 facts I figured they were going to ruin the entire movie.

Does it take place in the inner city?

Should've been called "Annie (get your gun)"

It’s the liberal mindset. They can’t just watch an old movie or show and say “this is great”. They watch it and say “this is great, but it would be better if there was more diversity, or if gender roles were more fairly represented, etc”. So, naturally, they follow their instincts and try to improve on things by changing the offensive elements.

“1. I don’t see any “black remake” of anything.”

It’s a shame you are so narrow-minded. The black remake of “Dukes of Hazzard” was excellent!
