About a week ago I saw a “mic’d” film of Luck. His comments to the defense after a hit indeed seem genuine. He appreciates the game, the opponent and it is all honest.
I think quite highly of him now.
Another segment last year was about Richard Sherman of the Seahawks and his trash-talking ethos. How he gets into the heads of opponents by bringing up their families.
He was then asked how he approaches specific players, to which he mentioned family members by name.
The key point was when he was asked about Larry Fitzgerald. His reply was something like “Man, I can’t trash-talk him. he’s too nice a guy and too hard a player”
Says a lot about another guy who has earned a ton of respect by being a positive person on and off the field.
If I was a marketing exec, I’d see a commercial in the works with Andrew Luck and Richard Sherman. If done right, it would be a hoot.
