Flu shot or not?
The dark recesses of my brain | December 15, 2014 | 1raider1

Posted on 12/15/2014 5:02:16 AM PST by 1raider1

I just heard a conversion, on the radio, between the show's host and a doctor concerning flu shots. The host asked, "What do you tell people who won't get a flu shot because they say it makes them sick?" The doctor replied, "Well, after you get the shot, you can't get the flu, but you might FEEL like you have the flu because of the reaction to the shot by your immune system". I don't know, but if I take something that makes me feel like I have the flu, I think I'd be safe in saying what Monica Lewinski's boyfriend's wife said, "What difference does it make".

This year’s batch has been proven to be ineffective against the strain that’s been most common this season.

Flu shots are one source of huge profits. They don't require double blind tests like other medications. There is little evidence of their effectiveness. $$$$$$$$$

I haven’t had the flu since I was a child (more that 30 years ago).

I’m not going to poison myself so people around me feel better. Instead, I take care of myself and use the things that God gave us to treat myself.

The stuff in the flu shots and other vaxes are deadly and dangerous. Do you research, like I did, and decide.

I know the difference between a stomach virus and the real flu. I’m in the public almost everyday. I used to ride public transportation. Never got sick.

Again, why would I willingly put toxins and poisons in my body. You did see that the CDC/FDA apologized for the shot not working this year, right?

I’m well educated (multiple degrees) and I research before I just put something in my body.

Please try your scare tactics somewhere else, thanks.

MS, Alzheimers, ALS, Parkinsons have been showed to have brain communication stopped because of a natural fat brain process. The coconut oil replaces that and can better your brain process.

I stand by what I said. My wife used to bring flu and colds home from school 4-5 times a school year. We both started taking the D-3 at 10,000 units (2 tiny gelcaps) a day through the winter and have not had any virus since. Same goes for relatives and a bunch of friends I talked into doing the D-3, including a lady at Walgreen whose job includes giving flu shots. She doesn’t take them herself any more. These are winter ailments because you don’t get sun in the winter, no other reason. When the H1(don’t remember just what it was called) “pandemic” was all over the area and the schools here were full of it we did not get flu shots nor did we get the flu.

If you have the flu already take 1000 units of D-3 per pound of body weight all at once. The instructions are to repeat that the next day. 1 daughter and I both started when we had the flu and were really sick with it. We only took the megadose once each and symptoms were gone by evening for me and next morning for her.

Here is my dilemma. I haven’t had a flu shot in ages I will be 65 next month. I just started a new full time position with Magellan Health Systems. I can get $30 per pay period off my health insurance deduction if i get a biometric screening and pass it.....AND get a flu shot. Should i risk a flu shot for the discount. The last time I got a flu shot i got sick from it.

I’d trade the possibility of being sick for a guaranteed $360.00/year.

Thank you for your information, arthurus.

I will test your recommendation the next time I get the flu seeing I cannot take the shot. I am a big beliver in Vit. D-3 but I have never heard of this before.

$360.00 is not worth taking their worthless deadly shot.

If you take 10,000 units a day until you are wearing short sleeves again- 2 5k gelcaps, you shouldn’t have occasion to try the megadose. All it is is sunshine in a gelcap. Sunshine on your skin is what you are lacking in the winter which is why colds and flu are winter phenomena.

No matter how many vitamins and supplements you stuff in your body, you will get sick.

That is simply not true. I take D-3 supplements these last 8 or so years and have not had any virus in that time. Wife is a primary school teacher. It is the same for her. She doesn't bring that stuff home to me anymore. That goes for members of my congregation at church whom I have induced to use the Vitamin D.

Oh, please. Prove it. Go ahead and inject yourself with live raw influenza virus and see what happens. All the Vitamin D in the world isn’t going to kill influenza virus. Religiously washing your hands and not exposing yourself is what will keep you from catching the flu. Of course, there’s always a flu shot. You may educate yourself on influenza and the flu shot here:

Wrong. Flu vaccines are rarely a perfect match, but they don't have to be in order to be effective. Please fee free to read up on the subject at:

I don't know whose biology book you have been reading, but you need to take it back for a refund.

Sorry. It has worked quite well for 9 years for me, my family and a number of friends and acquaintances. I realize that it "can't work" but just by pure lucky coincidence we all stay flu and cold free. My wife, the primary school teacher, stopped getting virii when she started on the D-3. She had been getting flu shots every year and also numerous cases of flu and colds from the kids. Now she gets neither the shot nor the virus. One of the doctors I see (Medicare) uses it but says he can't recommend it because of legal reasons. He doesn't take the shots either.
Anyone who would inject himself with flu virus or anything else unnecessary is simply not smart, or if smart, not sane. If you enjoy the secure feeling of an injection, go ahead.

P.S. I work in a shipyard and don't do much "handwashing" there and am around people with sniffles and coughs all winter.

Of course, I can't "prove it." I don't have a medical lab and am not equipped to do a study of thousands of cases. 100% of a dozen or so cases is sufficient indication to me that the results I experience are such as to indicate that it is worthwhile to proselytize it to people I care about. If you and I were neighbors I would happily wager it with you. You might try researching it. I was skeptical when I heard about it and looked it up on the net. I tried it first because it is cheap and D-3 is certainly not toxic. I suppose someone somewhere must be allergic to it, there are folks who cannot tolerate sunshine. I've read about such but never run into one.

Believe me, I’m glad you have stayed “flu free” for so long. You don’t want it. However, there is no cure or substance that will rid you of the virus once it enters your system. If you have managed to avoid it, there could be other factors that have kept you from acquiring the virus. However, Vitamin D-3 is no cure for the flu, nor is it an immunogen.

"Sequence analysis (3) of the HA1 portion of the hemagglutinin gene showed 99% homology to typical H3N2 strains circulating in the United States and worldwide during the 2013–14 northern hemisphere influenza season and were found to be antigenically similar to A/Texas/50/2012 (4). Ninety-nine of 102 USS Ardent crew members, 24 of the 25 with ILI symptoms, and 17 of 18 crew members with confirmed influenza A (H3N2) infection had received the 2013–14 influenza vaccine ≥3 months before the outbreak."

From the CDC: "There is still a possibility you could get the flu even if you got vaccinated. The ability of flu vaccine to protect a person depends on various factors, including the age and health status of the person being vaccinated, and also the similarity or “match” between the viruses used to make the vaccine and those circulating in the community. If the viruses in the vaccine and the influenza viruses circulating in the community are closely matched, vaccine effectiveness is higher. If they are not closely matched, vaccine effectiveness can be reduced. However, it’s important to remember that even when the viruses are not closely matched, the vaccine can still protect many people and prevent flu-related complications. Such protection is possible because antibodies made in response to the vaccine can provide some protection (called cross-protection) against different but related influenza viruses."

If you’d bothered to read the exerpt I posted you’d have noted that the infected crew members GOT the same antigenic strain that they’d been vaccinated against.

24 of 25 with flu symptoms had been vaccinated.

They were youngsters, not the elderly.

It’s known that the flu shot does nothing for the elderly. I can post many medical papers attesting to this. The elderly simply do not have enough of a functioning immune system left to mount a response to the vaccine.

Also, this:

“Increased risk of non-influenza respiratory virus infections associated with receipt of inactivated influenza vaccine”
