My point was that we can happily and vigorously disagree with Gen Zinni’s political pronouncements - just as he has the right to say any great or stupid thing he wants to.

What I’m sick of are the loony ad hominum attacks some of our fellow Freepers launch at the drop of a keyboard. Tony Zinni probably does have some dumb ideas but he’s still somebody who risked his life for all of us at a few points of His life.

We generally pride ourselves in being the side that respects veterans but we’re also the first to go total trash talk if the veteran in question doesn’t agree with us.

Most of what I have read about this guy, it seems like he was a good officer and good leader.

This country is based on people living and working together with different views on things.

If you are asking me to vote for him, I would probably pass.

But is he allowed to be a liberal fool...I think he’s earned that.
