Your blanket statement describing teachers as "illiterate dumb unemployable liberal arts majors" reveals an enormous amount of ignorance on your part. You cannot be illiterate or dumb and pass the stringent teaching exams. Furthermore, many teachers left lucrative careers as attorneys, accountants, etc. in order to go into teaching. They could probably collectively read and write rings around YOU. Better check your facts before opening your mouth in public.

Curricula are no longer determined by teachers. They are dictated by the administration, who got them from the Powers On High. This is a result of politicians and businesspeople poking their noses where they don't belong, manipulating curricula to suit THEIR needs, not the needs of the kids. Teachers have no choice in the matter of what to teach and how to teach it. They must also now waste huge amounts of their time correlating data instead of writing good lesson plans and designing interesting activities for the kids.

Meanwhile, teachers are no longer allowed to discipline students. They are actually at the mercy of students and must curry favor with them, lest they falsely accuse the teacher of things the teacher never did or said, resulting in the teacher being up on charges and in danger of losing their job. Teachers who have the dean remove disruptive students can count on that student being sprung and returned to destroy their class before the ending bell, with the student smirking up a storm, knowing there are no consequences for the damage they did to the rest of the class, disrupting their learning time.

I seriously doubt that YOU would last more than a few minutes in a classroom, particularly an inner city classroom. You want to call people names? Look in the mirror.

You know what though? Indignance in the face of FAIL is what got us here. Tender feelings aside, there is a big elephant in the room that teachers will not deal with and that elephant is called “NEVERTHELESS”.

Teachers are mostly highly educated. Nevertheless, on the whole, their work product quality declines year after year. This despite the dumbing down of requirements that has taken place in the last say 50 years.

The basic problem with teachers is not whether they are sufficiently educated or intelligent, it is that they are liberal and secular humanist in their worldview. They are collectivists, sheeple of the NEA.

Their main concern is money. Nevertheless on the whole, education spending has become inversely proportional to achievement.

The root problem is not teachers, per. se. It is that teachers are a reflection of part of us, our nation, our society. We, as members of this society have done this, we have forgotten God and taken the wide road. We think we know what to do, and how to do it. We seek to be educated, but the result is a lack of wisdom, virtue, self restraint, all the desired results of “education”.

Our representatives are a good example of this. All of them highly educated, yet nearly all of them turn out to be cretinous slaves to pride and are utter moral cowards.
