I would have picked it up. Kept it, written down the serial number and then given it to someone I didn't like. Afterwards, I'd send an anonymous letter to the police that said individual had a handgun they weren't supposed to have, serial # _____________________ . How's that for creativity? [/s & humor]

Really? You’d risk possessing a firearm very likely to have been involved in a violent, probably lethal crime? Not to mention that the gun might be a key piece of evidence that could stop a violent criminal from committing further mayhem and/or helping grant peace to a family shattered by a loved one being slaughtered by a violent criminal?

And sometime down the road, you and the police have a run in and that gun was found to of shot, or killed someone. Your 'Its not mind - I found it' story would be very hard to believe.
