He didn't "quit" football. He was pretty much shut out, partly because his faith made people uncomfortable, and partly because he didn't consider another role than starting quarterback. Hey, nobody's perfect, and what imperfections he has are more than offset by his faith and desire to live it. The analyst job was an opportunity of which he took advantage.

He’s not a typical modern quarterback, and has his faults, but he knows how to win and sells tickets. There’s a few NFL teams he could help, so in a way I can believe he’s being shut out. OTOH, his playing style guarantees he’s probably going to get hurt frequently, so some teams may not want to make the investment.
