Why was it necessary to force integration on your community?

Even when segregation was prohibited, whites still lived in white neighborhoods and blacks still lived in black neighborhoods so while schools were not purposely segregated, they still remained largely homogeneous. The Feds and the social engineers just couldn't tolerate that so they used lawsuits to force school districts to bus blacks into white neighborhoods and occasionally visa-versa. This forced integration of poor (monetarily, scholastically, and behaviorally) students into nice schools was a large factor in the flight of the middle class into suburbs.

The Feds and the social engineers . . .

They know what's best for everyone.

... they used lawsuits to force school districts to bus blacks into white neighborhoods and occasionally visa-versa.
They also bused blacks from their neighborhood schools in the 'hood to other schools in other neighborhoods in the 'hood.
Rochester NY was a thriving small city back in the day. So much so, they built Midtown Mall, the first urban indoor mall in the country (IIRC) - and their Main Street hosted dozens of small retailers ... and some not so small.
Then in the late 60s into the 70s, they started busing the homies across town and back, using the Main Street area near the mall as a transfer center. It became a war zone.
Within a few years all the stores on Main Street were gone - and a few more years later the mall closed.
The race apologists blamed it on whitey moving to the suburbs which was partly true ... they were fleeing for their lives.

I have some personal experience with this. My family lived in the East Bay during the 60s and early 70s, and we were involved in a busing experiment. My two siblings and I attended MLK Elementary School in Richmond, CA for a year (I was in the 4th grade). It was quite the experience. I did get in a couple fights, but only with other white kids (go figure).

If I did that today, I'd probably end up dead.
