Girls as young as 12 are getting cosmetic surgery such as butt lifts and nose jobs under the watchful eye of their mothers in a desperate and extreme bid to become beauty queens in Venezuela. In a country obsessed with winning international contests like Miss World and Miss Universe fame-hungry teens are going to shocking lengths to conform to the beauty pageant ideal. They include extreme measures to lose weight, with girls as young as 16 undergoing drastic surgery to cut out part of their intestines so food passes through their body without being digested.

Stupid parents should spend the money on educating their girls instead of trying to win the beauty pageant lottery. I am not a pageant fan, the wife and daughters are The girls went to see Miss Universe live at the Mandalay Bay. Gave me a chance to play some poker.;) One turn off is despite having women from all over the world they basically all look alike.

You can write the almost the same story about parents in the U.S. only it is hockey and baseball. As a youth hockey and baseball coach I find it insane what these parents are spending on sports. AAU baseball and AAA hockey will take their money and suggest all sorts of 1 on 1 training and clinics. Yes there are elite players on the team and they total about 2 or 3 per team. The rest are good players or maybe all-stars on their town team but will never play in college never-mind pro. All that time and money wasted on a dream that never was.

I agree.
The youth sports “industry” is HUGE here.
These “baseball academies” are making some serious dough.

I was talking to Junior Hockey coach last year and he told me that one, and only one of his players received a scholarship to Providence College. I asked him how much money did his parent spend to get him a scholarship? He came back with about the same amount as the scholarship.

Also those baseball academies are a complete waste of money. Send your kid to live in the Dominican Republic with an old beat-up glove. He can play baseball all day long with future MLB players on an vacant lot.

It’s a bit unfortunate these days that so many kids are pressured to “commit” to one sport year around by age 10-12.

My daughter is married to a PGA golf pro who grew up in that situation and his position toward their kids is just the opposite - have them do everything. He has wisdom.

My 11 year old does Karate and Soft Ball. I’m too tired for anything other than that.

You should try the youth rodeo crowd.

Maybe the beauty pageants need to add one rule, the girls have to be unmodified.
Surgical alterations to enhance beauty should be a disqualifier, just like doping is for a performance athlete.
If someone claims it's unfair, frame it in the context of promoting the contestant's health and safety.

I'm sure there are a bunch of FReepers who would volunteer to staff the technical inspection department!

The back of her legs look like the surface of the ‘far side’ of The Moon.

....And that was nearly 20 YEARS ago!!! ..../puke

(and her ass looks like Jupiter, probably with a similar gravitational pull too)
