On the TV show “The Middle” the dumb (but sincere) girl is on a college visiting trip with her dad. The first tour guide is giving heer all sorts of stuff about Indian studies, etc. The dad was wondering why they were giving her all of the Native American stuff.

This is an easy one. It is because there are far fewer black Barbies produced than white ones. Higher production costs and a more scarce black doll supply accounts for the higher price.
I gather you’ve never seen a naked Ken doll.
Lower production run, higher unit cost. They’re taking a hit on black Barbies just to placate the screamers.
