Christmas doesnt have to be the most stressful holiday of the year. Youre totally allowed to take shortcuts, especially if youre playing host.
1. Decorate upside-down waffle cones to make Christmas tree desserts.
2. Make Elf Cookies using Cheerios

The graham cracker gingerbread house is a great idea to give friends a cute gift.
Yup...what you said
Enjoyed reading the ideas! Thanks!
Another great idea is to do a corn flake wreath for an edible display piece.

Works as a single large wreath or can be portioned into individual wreaths.

Okay, the Christmas stress nonsense is a direct result of excessive whining from Gen X women.
btt
You could also use cranberries in your container with your candle. I have done this frequently around Christmas.
Thanks tomcat
chickensoup class of 98 too
(another long story, on this long strange FR trip we've had, ehh ? d:^)
Yep
Maybe it is stressful for people who are over materialistic, perfectionists and/or struggle to keep up with the Jones. Maybe they worry about getting invited to parties and dressing for it. Maybe they are not smart like you and get everyone to help. I don’t know. My sisters all get stressed.
I have so much love for Jesus in my heart at Christmas, I could walk on the clouds. Our traditions are simple but special and soft moments; especially to our sons. A lot of love and laughter fills our house. I am so thankful He was born. I don’t enter a stores anymore. During the periods when I paint all year long, my sisters, who live in Florida, get a painting which they love to get. I give them marketing photos of paintings I’ve created over the year that are available and they pick the one they want and I hope the does not sell before I get them pulled. That happened one year. : (
When the kids were small, we put ideas for Christmas meals in a bowl and picked one. Dzana (my four year old son’s spelling) won. That is also known as Lasagna. So we have Lasagna, meatballs and sausage as the main course with garlic bread and salad. When the kids grew everyone helps make the dinner while drinking wine and listening to music and dancing. We act silly. My sons are really fun and funny. No one is crazy about pies so we bake a tort chocolate concoction with whipped cream. We say it is Jesus’ birthday cake so we need to add extra whipped cream and we put in a fourth of July sparkler. We drink “velvet hammers” while we exchange presents on Christmas Eve. We tell each other what we love most about one another trying to keep in mind the attributes of Jesus.
Sometimes I do a real tree and sometimes I just put out the ceramic tree my mom made and let it be. The males all voted “no tree” so if I want one, I have to handle it.
Sometimes my sisters fly in because they love Christmas at our house. I don’t go there because they are stressed out and get snippy. I don’t get it. It’s the day we celebrate Jesus’ birth, for goodness sakes. He came to take away the sins of the world. And I have enough for the world.
Last year my eldest son missed Christmas because he works in Europe (Barcelona) and could not get away from work. He cried like a baby and we talked on the phone a lot. It was terrible. Our first Christmas without one of us there. We substituted with a young visiting scientist from Belgium who fit right in. He’s a friend of the son in Barcelona. My husband was talking to him about his professional goals in medical research and he said, “All that has changed now. I’m moving in here with you.”
‘___________some of the battery ones.’
As do we.
Spouse almost deathly afraid of fires from candles - - especially here in earthquake country.
I LOVE the chocolate mice idea... you are so creative! I unfortunately didn’t get that talent! I bet they are adorable!
Thanks, Bigg Red. The red would be very, very festive and bright. Plus, I purchase a lot of bags of cranberries when they were on sale. Really creative idea!
You are most welcome. If you are still worried that the cranberries will catch fire you could put a little water in the glass container with the cranberries, as well.
Bump for great new ideas for fun Christmas food!
This is it, plain and simple. I adore Christmas and cherish all my childhood memories and traditions as well as the memories we're currently making.
The only thing that stresses me out are the people who insist on being stressed over one of the most beautiful times of the year.
To me, Christmas is fun, magical, and reflective.
Merry Christmas!
Ahhhhh! Too cute, bgill! I will try them and I have the feeling that the kids will want them every Christmas. You are a doll for sending this to me. Hugs, Mom
