One of Crichtons (sp?) later (and best) novels, SPECIES, is an excellent cautionary look at the ramifications of splicing human with non-human genes. Once that starts, how does one define "human"?

The Crichton novel is called Next.

Will someone with 10% gorilla or cheetah genes, for instance, be considered human and be able to compete in the Olympics?

Visualize a "Planet of the Apes" scenario where an ape is given enough human genetics to make it useful menial labor. Is it human or property?
