The Nebraska Cornhuskers have hired Oregon State's Mike Riley as their new head coach. The Huskers announced it on Twitter Thursday morning.

This is too bad for Oregon State. Riley in his two stints as HC and Dennis Erickson in between had significantly improved the quality of football at OSU.
I thought Nebraska alum Scott Frost and current OC at Oregon would be the hire.
So much for ESPN’s Dari Nowkhah’s “very reliable source” who said that Pitt’s Paul Chryst would be the choice.
so- Pelini wasn’t the man for the job but Riley is??? they should’ve rehired Frank Solich...

Never thought Mike would forsake OSU.
I wish Riley the best of luck. Getting this program beyond the “9 wins per season” hump will be difficult. A few wins against quality opponents will be a sign of progress.

...OSU has reached its ceiling...and moving upwards on the job chain hardly constitutes ‘forsaking’...
14 years at OSU, now 61 years old, had previously indicated his enjoyment there and intent to stay, had recently turned down the USC head coaching job. Never thought he’d forsake OSU.
