Free Republic is the only site I can get onto right now. How is that even possible if "the DNS server isn't responding" as the message tells me?

I just got a new one since the landlords had a hissy fit over it being attached to the house. But I look around the community and 97% of the houses have one attached, so why did they go after me? It cost me $200 I didn’t have to have DISH come out and put it on a pole.

If you ping “www.freerepublic.com”, you will find that the IP address is 209.157.64.201. If you then put that IP address - 209.157.64.201 - into your browser, you will go directly to FreeRepublic and bypass the DNS server. It’s like having a friend’s telephone number stored in your telephone instead of having to look it up in the telephone directory.

Not sure why they picked on you, but they probably don’t want people drilling holes in the building, etc. Have you been flying an American Flag on your patio or something?

Do you have a cat? They're pretty persistent when they're hungry.

Dunno about internet, but I’m waiting for my second new receiver in 4 months. I won’t go to DirecTV (BTDT), but Dish’s quality of equipment seems to be going downhill.
