If it weren’t for the close, late, ref assisted Baylor win over TCU, Baylor would not be in the top 10 right now.

That’s true, and people need to be reminded of that.

Lol. FSU is in the playoffs if they win this weekend. I am a bit cynical, but it seems the committee is plotting match ups for the playoffs.

if that happens, FSU should decline any other bowl bid and sue the NCAA.

You know what the committee really doesn’t want......A TCU-Baylor title game in Arlington....There goes all those tourist dollars. LOL.

The only thing any of the other college teams have over FSU is the knowledge of what it is like to lose...

Yup. They want Oregon and some other team from outside Texas.

But it is all premature. This weekend’s games should be exciting. I am, of course, hoping for a Bama win.

McElwain will be a good hire. He doesn’t have the crazy temperament of Muschamp. And speaking of temperament, did you see Richrod go berserk during Arizona v AZ State?

He was accused of rape two years ago, and after repeated stallings, it’s finally going to be heard at the school’s code of conduct level.

That said, if Baylor crushes KSU then that could change things. I don’t THINK they’re going to though. Oklahoma was able to absolutely pound KSU on the ground (although lost the game). It was so bad that when OU had 2nd and goal from the 2, Snider pulled a couple from the secondary and put in 2 D linemen. But OU was destroying KSU with yards after contact and Perine.
Last year Baylor thrived on YAC yardage but not as much this year. I don’t think they’ll have that same ability to run on KSU. KSU SHOULD play press/man at the corners, disrupt that QB/WR timing routes that Baylor likes and see if Baylor can run the ball on them. Should be a great game. But if Baylor manages to put up big numbers on KSU then all bets are off as far as TCU/Baylor ranking goes.

Oregon started two non-scholarship offensive linemen in the first game. The Oregon offinsive line is much healthier now.

Ducks by 3+ touchdowns.

I didn’t see it but Richrod has gone berserk many times in his career. I guess I’ll look for footage. Should be a fun time.

I remember a few years back how TCU was undefeated going into the bowls and everyone was scratching their heads wondering how an unbeaten team could be ranked outside of the Top 10.

This is indicative of a society that gives out trophies for last place. Going unbeaten, even if every game was won by a single point, is a monumental feat, esp. for a team that lost 13 starters from their championship team.

Is FSU playing well? Not exactly. Are they winning games? Absolutely. And that should count for something.

I think the Badgers will handily defeat the Buckeyes this weekend. It remains to be seen if the Yellow Jackets believe in themselves enough to beat the Seminoles.

It does count for something. Unbeaten teams are rare events. Now that all conferences have a playoff, it helps unbeaten teams even more.

Don’t waste your time. If he has always been a hothead, then you have probably seen it before. I didn’t follow RR before he went to Arizona except when there was brief talk of him coming to Bama. Thank goodness that didn’t happen! He is a good coach, and I like what he has done in Tucson. I would LOVE to to see Zona beat Oregon again. They have never been to the Rose Bowl if my memory is correct. That would be a great accomplishment.

I remember that year...TCU was not in the Big 12 at the time...I believe that they were in the Donner Pass Western Conference or something, Eastern division of course...It was a conference that one could sink their teeth into...

I’d like to think OSU will win the Big 10. But I’m not sure a 3rd string QB can guarantee that.

WTH? An alleged rape should be investigated by the police. If he's cleared, the school's Code of Conduct bulls**t is a moot point. If he's arrested, then he'll be in jail and the C of C is still a moot point. I guess I'm missing something here.

The biggest concern I’d have if Baylor makes it into the playoff is they take a sort of Seattle Seahawk mentality when it comes to defense. They’re gonna push the limits of pass interference on every play knowing the refs probably aren’t going to call it on every play.
However big time bowl games have shown time and again, especially bowl games with the Big 12, that they will let the cloth fly on that style of play. Leaving Big 12 teams scratching their heads, wondering where all these flags are suddenly coming from.
Case in point, last year Baylor vs UCF. Baylor had 17 penalties for 135 yards. It’s not the blatant stuff, it’s the subtle-every-down stuff that will get them into trouble in a big-time playoff game.

Baylor WR screen plays also come to mind. It’s just something they do practically every down. Rarely gets flagged. It will absolutely get flagged in playoff games though.
