High school football can damage the brain in just ONE season
The Daily Mail ^ | 1 December 2014

Researchers have found that playing a single season of football can change the brain of a teenager - even if they don't suffer concussions.

Even though players were not concussed during the season, researchers found abnormalities similar to the effects of mild traumatic brain injury.

They called for more research into the area, which raises new questions over the safety of contact sports for young adults.

Great; more pajama boys.

Why the focus on the US sport out of the Daily Wail? Are they going to campaign for banning rugby as well, where the players wear no protection?

There’s also Canadian football, Australian rules football and rugby. Biased much, one would think?

Perhaps that explains the level of imbecility displayed by these St. Louis Rams players yesterday...

Surprise surprise, subjecting a delicate organ to forceful battering on a regular basis damages it!

I think rugby players are better off than football players because in rugby you aren’t wearing a hard shell for a helmet.

I played football in Jr. High and High School, 2nd string and proud of it; got my share of getting knocked on my butt.

My mind is as sound as a, as a, as a, as a...what was the question?

Oh, yeah, now I'm just old...

Football players over here didn’t wear them in the past either; they did wear leather helmets though, even though they were optional equipment to begin with. The goalposts used to be the same as in rugby, too.

A smack to the head with an 85 mph fastball can do the same.

Ban all sports now so the inept can keep up!

I wish some white player had pretended to shoot them to show support for Darren Wilson.

With the way MRI and CT technology is today, it would be rare for anyone to have a “normal” study. Even something around 1mm in diameter can be seen on an MRI and often it just indicates an area of slightly different density than the surrounding tissue.

Same here, defensive tackle and I loved to hit people.
There’s nothing like getting your own bell rung, so you take a minute or so to shake it off and find you’ve drooled all over your facemask, a little blood but mostly snot and slobber ‘cause you just ‘jowled’.
But it never hurt me none that much no surprise thick in chaff g g g

I can’t stray too far from my 8 cell flashlight.
I’ve rigged it to give the steel plate in my head a little jolt, and that usually does the trick.
