Dress like you deserve respect not a spot at a bar:GOP staffer calls Malia and Sasha Obama classless
Daily Mail (U.K.) ^ | November 29, 2014 | Mia de Graaf

A GOP staffer has accused First Daughters Malia and Sasha Obama of classlessness, lashing out at their attire and attitude at the White House turkey pardon.

The girls, aged 16 and 13, prompted playful criticism after scowling at their father, President Barack Obama, as he gave his annual Thanksgiving address on national television.

But Elizabeth Lauten, once a media director for the Republican National Committee, went a step further to call the girls 'classless' and take aim at their short skirts which 'deserve a spot at a bar'

Look fine to me.

Like teenage girls.

The staffer should get a life and pick on adults.

An inch above the knees (or longer) is more appropriate for an event of this type. These skirts are too short and one or more of the first family’s handlers should have mentioned it and encouraged other options for their clothing.

Nobody needs to see that much leg on a 13-year old.

The expression on their faces is like they’re again hearing more BS coming out of the man behind the podium.

As to their attire, it shows the state of the economy: Even the white hut cannot afford more fabric for skirts.

In my book, those skirts are way too short.

I think it’s classless and small to go after people’s kids, no matter how much you loathe the person. Their wives too, for that matter (just because they’re their wives), except for the stupid things their wives say or do on their own. I don’t care if the other side does it or not. I refuse to lower myself to the level of classless liberals and other low-class people.

Those girls look absolutely mad about having to take part in this - if looks could kill. I don’t see anything wrong, however, with the way they are dressed. They are teenagers. Malia has her arms folded, which says - she isn’t the least bit interested in what is taking place. I guess they are just anxious for their Christmas vacation to Hawaii - or wherever Moochelle and Barry take them this year. Yes, people should leave the kids alone, but that didn’t stop the media for going after the Bush twins, did it?

Just guessing you folks never went to high school in the 1970s. I did. Perhaps the experience has clouded my judgment! :)

All I am saying is by definition, very short skirts are not an extremely conservative clothing style.

Not saying I don’t like women wearing them, or some women don’t look good in them.

they were almost done with college in the 70s. Maybe my mom did wear those skirts but by the time the late 80s/90s came it was none of that for her daughters so skirts wore worn below the knees!

I’m pretty sure I agree with post numbers 2,3, 8, 12 etc. that have been censured.
By some moderator.
This whole family is garbage.
Obammy takes shots at every damn person and his brats should be fair game when they act like him, spoiled crappola.
Ya gonna censor me too?

Mini-skirts
Hot pants
Hip huggers
Halter tops

We were not exactly the generation of conservative attire, were we? All I needed to be happy was a broken in pair if Levis, halter top, and work shirt to be happy.

As a mother of two daughters and two sons, all of whom would have been sent back to change both their apparel and their attitude, I have no problem with kids of this age being called out for both inappropriate actions and appearance.

“Kids should be off limits.”

So, let’s see - if the pic would have shown them shooting the bird at the cameras, they would still be off=limits?

There is a limit, isn’t there where they are “fair game”.

After all, their parent trotted them out to cameras, ostensibly for some reason.

They struck me as being extremely self conscious teenagers. They really looked uncomfortable at being up there. As with all teens, they don't think their father is funny, any more than we do!

I think their skirts could have been a tiny bit longer but, honestly, as a teen, my skirts were pretty short (although they were NOT that short when I left the house before school in the morning! :D )

No, not High School. Some of us were in Elementary School in the 70's. Mini skirts were a problem. Girls who wore mini skirts were known as loose girls. Some girls wore shorts under the skirts because "boys will be boys".

The _resident's daughters have no business showing off their upper thighs during a white hut event.

I graduated HS in the 70’s. The first daughters would not have been allowed to wear those skirts at my school, and I did not go to Catholic school either.
