Ferguson demonstrators to march 120 miles to Missouri state capital

By Daniel Wallis and Edward McAllister

FERGUSON, Missouri (Reuters) - Activists gathered in Ferguson, Missouri, on Saturday to begin a 120-mile march to the state capital Jefferson City to protest the killing of an unarmed black teen by a white police officer, a case that has rekindled a national debate over U.S. race relations.

About 100 people were expected to take part in the seven-day march organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), with more joining segments of the long walk, NAACP staff member Jamiah Adams told Reuters.

I hope they’re wearing those $200 sneakers they looted the other night.

I’ll bet half of them don’t make it ten miles on foot.

I bet the rest of them forget why they're marching and just wander off in to the woods looking for a place to take a dump or smoke a blunt.

you just KNOW they’ve already gotten Beyoncé and LeBron signed on for this production, which, you’re right, is exactly what this is about.

But if a protestor is important enough and wants to march in style, Al Sharpton will give him a ride in Sharpton's pimp mobile.

The media will spin this “quest for justice” into some kind of civil rights Bataan Death March

They'll do it the Jesse Jackson way. They will have 120 people walk one mile each.

Had something similar to this with an anti Confederate flag march. The biggest liberal in the area Charleston mayor Joe Riley organized it from here to the state capitol, about 90 miles. Hundreds of people were at the start and marched in solidarity. That is until the TV cameras all left. Not even a half a mile later, there were only about enough marchers left to fill a table at a Dennys. About ten miles in there were more counter protestors than marchers.

This whole mess is getting old.

No worries. Every "protest" so far has been a dud and interest among even the "earnestly naive" is petering out.

This latest protest fad has lost its luster and is rapidly going the way of "occupy Wall Street" and Travon Martin.

Their Governor has already telegraphed fear, and they figure a little more arm twisting might yield Sharpton and his band of looter a few more “concessions”.

Chances are a few hundred will show up at the starting line - for the photo pop, don’tcha know - and then the marchers will walk out of range of the reporters, board their bus, and take a 7-day cruise to the capital. They’ll get off the bus a couple of miles short and come walking in on foot...for the press.

Seriously, I doubt those gangbangers will walk a mile in this cold without a burning retail store to keep them warm.

This shows the entitlement mentality of this population. The government has been giving them handouts for so long they believe they’re always right. It’s dumbed them down.

Obama will have a press conference (or a planted question) to say that any employer that doesn’t give their workers the week off for this will suffer the full weight of FedGov upon them.

you just KNOW they’ve already gotten Beyoncé and LeBron signed on for this production, which, you’re right, is exactly what this is about.

I understand they are considering Christopher Walken or Mickey Rourke to play Officer Wilson and the "That's Racist" kid to play Michael Brown.

And the storyline: Michael Brown was a good boy who was walking home with a sammich for lunch. He was unarmed, so he had the sammich on top of his head. When he stopped to help an old lady cross the road a white racist cop decided to shoot him to prevent the Vatican from naming Michael the world’s first living saint. A subplot will suggest that Republicans were somehow involved for not passing an immigration bill.
