The early NFL Thanksgiving game (Lions and Bears) has turned into a liberal lovefest for Detroit's faux renaissance. Phil Simms and Jim Nantz are breathless with their admiration of the so-called "rebirth" of that DemonRAT city. Carefully-staged photos of downtown are then spoken in reverant terms by the announcers. I'm sure See-BS is forcing this narrative.
Please Phil and Jim, just shut up about the failed city and focus on the game! Until and unless free-market Conservatism is allowed to flourish in Detroit, it remains a third world cesspool.
Left in 1960 when I enlisted. Get back once a decade for SMR reunions. But I will consider myself a Detroiter for the rest of my days.
As I sarcastically linked to "Dream On" by Aerosmith.
I quit watching the Lions close to 20 years ago. My Sundays have been fantastic ever since. I applaud all of the die-hard fans, but I am not one of them. I'd been disappointed too many times. I gave up on them. Nothing against them, but I just couldn't waste my time anymore agonizing over a sports team I really liked historically. A return to glory would be OUTSTANDING for Detroit and the Lions. I remember those days well. They were fabulous times.
Lucci was terrific.
I really liked the Kaline-Cash Tigers. Those were fun teams, because there was a lot of run-scoring — both by the offense, and by the pitchers giving up a lot of runs!
Those were the days my friend. HOORAY to the Tigers, Pistons, Wings who have had some-to-much recent glory. It’s uplifting to any metropolitan area when a team is making a run for a chance to play in a title game.
