Sometimes they won’t insure you no matter how much money you have for a car that expensive. But who are we kidding, when you crash that one you just buy another one....

That was my though as well. Not that this punk lost a whole bunch of money, but the amount of work that went into that beauty of a car was wasted.
I’m guessing something like that is almost hand built? I wonder if they could assemble the people that built it and have them give the punk a “talking” to?

My son and I went to Santana Row (San Jose) a couple weeks ago when a dozen P1s were being shown at the Sat. morning car show. What a gorgeous car!
Reminds me of the president of Eagle Computer dying in a Ferrari crash the day after his company went public in 1983.

Most accidents happen within 5 miles of home, so to be safe register your car in some distant place like Alaska.

Back in the day of the first generation Porsche Turbo Carrera, a stunning 1 in 20 of the cars were wrecked on day they left the lot.
Drivers over cooked it going into a turn or getting on or off a freeway on or off ramp, lifted the throttle, hit the brakes and then Katy bar the door.

Maybe a professional athlete...or a rich Arab. They’re the only 27 year olds who have that much money to spend on cars they don’t know how to drive.

I assume if you can afford a $1m car, you can probably find an insurer at some price. If you have that kind of money you can be self-insured.

That stat does not surprise me. It’s pretty easy to swap ends in a 911, even for a highly competent driver. They can be a little tempermental.

Yeah, trailing throttle oversteer is not your friend and those early 911s had it in spades.

Article says only 375 built per year.
I wish I could have run that wreck. Our Christmas tree at the fire department is decorated with car badges from the debris that we sweep up out of the road during wreck cleanups. We even have a Mercedes star for the top!

“first generation Porsche Turbo Carrera.......”
I remember a retrospective article on great cars that made reference to that model as “never having learned pity”.
