The end is near for RG III, Redskins
ESPN ^ | NOV 26 2014 | John Keim

The Redskins will say they're not giving up on Robert Griffin III, that he can be developed, that he can still become the quarterback they hoped he would be -- and expected him to be -- when they gave up four draft picks for him in 2012.

It's hard to believe them. Everything else suggests this is the end for Griffin in Washington.

A discussion I had last night with another FReeper suggested that RG3 was thrust into the starting QB too soon. A year or two to develop would probably have been beneficial. Unless they can salvage him, he may go into the list of hugh [sic] NFL draft busts.

By the way, even though ESPN is a leftist outfit, some credit is due for their use of name "Redskins" in the title and the article. So, in one sense, there's still some sanity in Bristol.

I see him with a star on his helmet in the future.

Still has a lot of fans in the area. A year or two behind Romo, to allow him time to really heal and work on his mechanics, and if he progresses he could be the heir apparent....depends on how cheap they could get him for.

He was pushed too soon, and also he joins the long list of Heismann-winner failures in the NFL. One of his strengths was his running ability, but that is negated by his position and his injury history. He was a decent pocket passer, but never an outstanding one.

Tony Romo deserves a slot in the HoF.. Medical Miracle wing.

He must pound the Advil.

We have a history of ruining young qbs. As a matter of fact, every qb since Theisman has met the same fate.

Like Mike Vick, they try to protect him too much. Vick was really good when he required a shadow. When they tried to turn him into Payton Manning, it failed.

Let RG3 do his thing and if he gets hurt doing it, so be it.

I’ve done a 180 on Romo, I really like him and I want him to win a Super Bowl.

Rodgers and Brady may be having better years, but right now, Romo is the NFL MVP (just look how they did without him against Arizona).

He just keeps getting up hit after hit.. He knows how rare opportunities to even get to the SB are.

Possibly except Dallas’ backup quarterback is also pretty good. IIRC he was a 1st rounder to Cleveland a couple of years ago.

Are you sure it was a helmet, and not a hat?

It’s a shame the Cowboys won’t be getting past my Eagles.

I think he'd be the perfect fit in Chip Kelly's offense.

You mean like Schroeder, Frerotte, Shuler, Campbell and on and on and on? Wow, what a dismal record with QBs.

Yeah, you seem pretty broke up about it.

Even though I’m a Cowboy fan, I have to agree.

Seriesly, your name reminds me of Norm Hitzges, a good commentator on the local sports station in Dallas. The topic of Romo being a Hall of Famer was brought up yesterday. Hitzges contended that short of winning a SB -- and very soon -- it wouldn't happen. He elaborated that such a win would have to be over a sure-HOF QB like Aaron Rodgers and Romo would need to pile up in excess of 300 passing yards. This from a guy who otherwise has a high regard for Tony Romo but to use the cliche, his total body of work just doesn't put him in that elite category.

I’d figure Jones and Cowboys were tired of basket cases at QB.
