It is a ruse. there was a pre-formed “hay bail” (probably a cardboard box with holes for the arms and head and open at the bottom - to which a layer of hay was attached/glued) into which the guy climbed and pushed himself out the back. Minimally funny at best.
Had to be a ruse. I own a 568 John deere round baler. I know the mechanism is different for a round vs. a square baler, but either way, survival would approach 0. Just the tying mechism would have been a killer. It had to be a ruse.
It’s definitely a well-rehearsed ruse but now there’s a good chance some knucklehead out there will have one too many beers and decide to do this for real - with the predictable results.
