We hire people in town to clean our city parks and streets. They mow grass and pick up leaves. They plow and shovel snow in the winter, they paint and repair city buildings. These are perfect jobs for those that suck off of taxpayers. I’m sure every city and town could find a job for those who use the system.
It builds confidence and instills pride in the community.

Years ago, the enigmatic Ed Koch as mayor of NYC was cronfronted by a crowd of welfare folks. He offered them $10/hour (late '80s) on the spot to do that kind of work. None took him up on it. He was a VERY liberal congressman, but definitely had his moments as mayor and later as a radio host (despite his stammering).
