What Executive Orders Will You Impose? Should This Now Be The #1 POTUS Debate Issue?
self | 11/22/2014 | self

Maybe the best way to fight the Obama power grab is to show how it opens up the floodgates. So maybe all the GOP candidates should now start talking about what executive orders they would impose. After all, if we establish the precedent that the POTUS can flout the will of Congress by using EO's, then we would naturally start expecting presidents to use that to pursue their agenda, and we would want to know in advance for which issues they would likely consider using that new found power.

So let's put that out there! If this precedent gets established, then what EO's would the GOP base expect to get from a President Cruz, Paul, Huckabee, Ryan, Perry, Rubio, or fill-in-the-blank? Let's start posting all over the place about what EO's the GOP base will now expect from their candidate if they get into office - that might just freak out people on the left enough to make them realize that they just might want to keep the Constitutional checks and balances in place, rather than take that cork out of the bottle and then deal with how some future president may use those new powers.

What EO did Obama release? Got a number?

I've seen a lot of yammering, but no EO.

Why stop with questioning the GOP candidates? Why not the Democrat candidates too?

Of course, but my objective here is to freak out the left by showing how they would be letting the genie out of the bottle by doing this.

He does not have to pass an EO! He could just keep saying he will do it and the tsunami of S.O.B.'s (south of the border) would flood the border states.

And next phase...crash the economy.

Not a lot different than the Mooch deciding what’s best to feed our kids. They should have both been stopped a long time ago.

He does have to pass an EO if he wants to enact his unlawful immigration scheme.

And those south of the border know that. No EO, no work permits.

Word gets out fast in that community.

I just read on another thread that he is not going to issue an EO but instead take "executive action" with is not the same thing.

In doing so he will require his agencies to make changes administratively through the regulation process.

This is such a mess.

Seal the border, like McGarrett used to lock up the rock.

Great question.

Along with “will you support or oppose the adoption of Sharia law at the federal level.”

My EO is that all males ages 18 to 55 will keep and bear arms (if not a felon or mentally adjudicated).

Mandatory that every voter possess a firearm. Violators put to death.

That certainly keeps the States from going directly to the Supreme Court for an injunction (something Congress can't do), and it does keep the process within the legal framework that Congress and the people can change.

Looks like there was a lot of blowback over the EO trial ballon.

Lets see. If its a Republican President he can just follow Obama's example and say,"Well the congress isn't acting fast enough to suit me." "So, I'll just tell the IRS to stop with that income tax collecting thingy, the EPA and the Education department to pack up their desks and computers and take the rest of my term off and oh yes, all those pesky E.O.'s that the previous occupant signed, and that ACA they are all invalid." Its the precedent now. The new King has spoken.

That is what happens if this precedent is allowed to stand.

Executive orders for new voters since the current voters are pissed. Find a bunch of new voters who will follow like sheep without questioning anything. Fight the opposition with a stacked deck of network hacks, who will march exactly in step with their commander.

Actually, the EPA was formed by an EO, and can be removed with an EO. Thank Nixon.

Most recently on immigration, He didn't use an executive order. Instead, he used an "executive action," a very different beast.
