This will certainly collapse the SS system much more quickly than ever. Adding 5,000,000 people to the SS rolls, who HAVENT PAID INTO THE SYSTEM, is a slap in the face to hard working Americans who have been supporting this system for decades.

It continued through the Constitutional process, with the Bill originating in the House and was passed to the Senate, as called for in the Constitution.
The bill failed but, was brought up again and passed.
President Reagan only signed it after it went through the legislative process.

That said, the bill did not result in some 10 million illegals receiving citizenship, legal resident status or worker permitting.
In fact, 20 years after the bill only 22% of the original illegal aliens obtained some sort of status.
And remember this: That 22% was only reached in the last 12 years.
The majority of Latinos felt they would be in some sort of jeopardy if they even attempted to obtain status and hence, never applied.

Possible. I just keep feeling for the millions of unskilled workers in this country. The illegals will likely not complain if their minimum wage jobs ‘pay less than before’ (because the employer must now pay the costs associated with legalization). Do you think this is part of the ‘raise the minimum wage’ meme?

Most of these “in the shadows” Illegal Immigrants are low wage. They won’t be paying taxes anyway. They will be part of the 47% which now will be 50%.

They don’t care. As long as they have “theirs” and agreed upon spoils of the riches on the backs of their fellow American Citizens/Middle Class, they don’t care. They won’t have to live with the result of the rule of law that they flout.

PS-supposedly, they are NOW going to strengthen the border. It was Obama and Napolitano who stopped the fence from being constructed. Does ANYONE think they will now reinforce the border with anything? And why, if this is a priority, haven’t they done it already? That Bill would have passed both the House and the Senate if it had ever come up. It has been my belief the reason the ‘bi-partisan’ Senate Immigration Bill has not been brought up in the House is, if passed, it would then go into committee for tweaking and reinforcement of the border would be eliminated. I have to agree with Boner when he said ‘why pass anything when Obama will just eliminate the good provisions’ (paraphrase)

I was too sick to listen to President-of-Illegal-Immigrants last night, now that they will be “squared up” with the PLETHORA of LAWS they have broken (including Barry, the Selective Service Law which may PROHIBIT CITIZENSHIP, and PORHIBITS FED JOBS/BENEFITS/STUDENT LOANS for Illegal Immigrants that did NOT sign up for SService if here during the term they were 18-25), WHAT ABOUT HEALTHCARE NOW? They getting it free? Going to the front of the line again?

And remember that the child had no control over either status. There are no illegitimate children, only illegitimate parents.
