Article 1, section 8, clause 4:

The Congress shall have power to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization

The authority to control immigration and naturalization does not rest with the President. This is his most flagrant violation of the US constitution yet and is clear grounds for impeachment. There is no other recourse for this kind of lawlessness.

Sure. This stuff happens when no President is ever held accountable.

The recourse for Congress is impeachment. Not filing a law suit.

Agree. We have had several Presidents of late who should have been impeached for various reasons.

But President Reagan crossed that line when he legalized spouses, way back in the 80’s. I don’t see how we can complain now, much as I’d like to.

I don’t care what Reagarn did 30+ years ago. There is no precedent for lawlessness. the power to control immigration and naturalization is not granted to the president by the Constitution. It is, in fact, specifically granted to the congress. So I’m gonna complain.

Simpson-Mazzoli was passed in 1986, Congress passed a law that he signed and he did an executive order based on that legislation. There is no law here that Congress has passed!
