I graduated university in 1980. The cost was $3,500 for tuition, room, board and books. I WAC an out of state student. I believe in-state students paid $1,000 per year.
The air force ended up paying for my six-odd years of education (two bachelors and an associates degree). My input for the whole period was probably around $1,500...with another $1,500 of my money spent on books (they wouldn’t cover that part).
