Thankfully we never had those issues in Catholic schools. There was a horrible tragedy at Gonzaga two weeks ago, while we were in London.
A Gonzaga hockey player, a senior, was killed in a car accident. 4 boys were stopped on the side of the Beltway, having run out of gas, they were awaiting a dad to come help them out, when an impaired 24 yr old woman [and lamentably, she is a service member, as well as grad student] plowed into the back of them, killing Dom Pettey and injuring the other boy in the back seat. The outpouring for his family was astounding. The funeral was at the Basilica, the shrine of the immaculate conception, and it was PACKED. They had had to move the funeral mass from his home parish to accommodate the # of mourners. xsboy didn't know him bc Dom wasn't there yet, when he graduated. But he went to the prayer service they had at St. Al's, the Gonzaga parish, the day after the accident.
