In the show Beth is 18 or 19 and led a pretty sheltered life even after the zombie apocalypse. She was just a kid when this happened.

Beth, I think, is going to change once she’s freed from the gulag.

I agree about Judith. Rick and Carl have been pretty much relieved of any duties regarding her.

It almost always happens in tv shows that a character will get pregnant, and the writers milk the pregnancy for many episodes, but then finally the baby is born. Oddly, while the pregnancy was interesting, the baby is not, and the baby almost gets written out of the show. Few characters are show raising an infant.

In the Walking Dead, it would actually be great to see Rick taking Judith more, because that is now the perfect reason why he must be a leader. He must delegate to others, because he now has Judith. Everyone knows he is capable and willing to do it himself, but he needs to delegate now.

Given that Rick was having hallucinations of his dead wife after the child’s birth, it was right to hand the kid to Beth - especially when her father could advise her on how to handle a baby.
And given Carl’s emotional toll of having to put his mother down, it was wise not to tell him to babysit.
