Well this will be for both of us. Something to keep in the bedroom. We have a German Shepherd and live a bit outside of the city so breakins probably arent the biggest concern. Just wondering if its better to buy an extra barrel and stock for the Bene or just buy a different gun... not that I need any incentive to buy another gun ;)

That extra barrel won’t do your wife much good if you are off hunting or trap shooting and she needs a shotgun.
My preference is Mossberg. Have 2 12’s and 1 20. Have a pistol grip 12 loaded with 2 1/4” ‘00’ for home defense. And it has a laser/light on it.
