Why is it so difficult for Mia to win in deep red Utah, of all places??
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Maybe UT is like it is looking like MD when it comes to ANYONE but a White Male running for High Office.

As Liberal as MD is the last 2 R’s to have a run against a female Kennedy and a Black ‘break the streak’.

Even if Brown pulls it out, the ‘White’ guy ‘murdered’ him in Baltimore and it looks like PG and Montgomery have to be counted with Hogan an 8 point lead....BUT we know all about the ‘suddenly found’ bags of votes...

Like I saw the other day some dude said—
“My grandfather was a staunch Chicago R and voted in every election from Roosevelt and always voted R.
He died and has voted D ever since.”

Her district seems to be the most urban and democrat leaning. Every other republican is winning by about 30%, but they include the rural areas.

Yep, that’s exactly why. Salt Lake County is full of liberals and a lot of anti Mormons. The two tend to go hand in hand in Utah. The liberal electorate tolerate the few liberal mormon candidates, because they usually have to but someone like Mia Love is a huge threat! There has been a ton of outside money come in to fight her and keep her from breaking the mold in Washington. I wish her the best tonight and going forward if she wins. It’s going to be hard for her, but she’s got spunk.

I don’t think that’s accurate, it was at 15 percent about 5 minutes ago.

The precinct percentage reported elsewhere has been wrong. Here are the latest numbers:

MIA B. LOVE REP 50.04% 64390

DOUG OWENS DEM 46.75% 60165

She was about 3,300 votes ahead for about 15-10 minutes of updates. Now shows a 4,200 vote lead.

Her district includes a bunch of libs. A GOP candidate would lose in TN, the most Republican of all states in the country, if his district consisted mostly of Memphis. In addition, her opponent is Doug Owens, progeny of a 2-decade Congressman. Having a familiar (and well-loved) political name matters. If Hillary’s last name weren’t Clinton, would she have won her Senate seat?

With 99.05% reporting, Mia Love wins District 4 with 49.69%. She has 63,105 votes, to 59,633 for the 'Rat, 1,729 for the Independent whatever, 1,181 for the Constipationalist, and 1,137 for the Losertarian.

Utah is all red.

And by libs, I mean the SLC residents who have elected Democratic mayors to office for the last 40-odd years. I suspect the GOP primary wasn't all that hard-fought. It was always going to be a tough seat to win.
