Just wondering if anyone's local radio stations are playing Christmas music yet.
We have a station up here in Seattle that changed their website format to Christmas at midnight last night. Their on-air music is still 'normal', but they have an online channel of nothing but Christmas music. If they follow tradition, they'll be switching their on-air format on Nov. 15th to all-Christmas...two Fridays before Thanksgiving.
I Want Elvis for Christmas by the Holly Twins with Eddie Cochran belongs on that list.
Christmas music should start about a week before Christmas! It’s a holy holiday, not a buying season. If I hear “Silver Bells” I wanna spew chunks. But, as a musician, seasonal music drives me nutz! I know every note, every harmony, I find it to be very annoying!
I don’t celebrate Christmas until December 25th. I don’t want to hear that Jingle Bell stuff until then.
When they start here in NW Arkansas they play it clear through Dec 31. It makes me want to SCREAM!
But now I have lots of non Christmas CDs but the wife plays Christmas music way too much.
I like some religious Christmas music. It is the secular stuff I hate with a passion.
Got an old radio and a .410 - will try it out the first time I hear one.
Slightly off topic but our local WalMart superstore began displaying artificial Christmas trees a week before Halloween. This is ridiculous.
Starting this morning, nothing but Christmas movies scheduled on the Hallmark TV channels, probably from now ‘til the end of December - a bit much.....
I only listen to conservative talk radio so won’t hear any Christmas music. Did buy some stamps at a post office kiosk today though and they were dispensing only Christmas ones. Looked kind of funny to see Rudolph on business mail and it’s only November 1.
If you notice, even on that newfangled “I heart radio” thingie, which is bunk, there is NO time given for Thanksgiving!!!
The cable ‘music choice’ channels will be switching in a day or two to Christmas music, too.
Yes, as in I will turn the radio completely off.
It caught me off guard last year, but now, I just tune it out!
So stupid when we have not even had Thanksgiving yet!
Then, of course, all Christmas music stops on December 26. I don’t get it.
At our local Costco, Christmas ornaments went up for sale over Labor Day weekend.
Same here. Why is that stupid song retained on Christmas playlists year after year?
Nov 1 is when I start playing/warbling Christmas music on my guitar and several other instruments I can coax a tune out of. The wife was warned.
I agree. The real pros do the decorating first and then put out the Christmas merchandise for the day after Thanksgiving. And then they turn on the Christmas music.
Had one start a few days ago - I had to switch to another station...
Our cable TV system has a group of channels featuring various kinds of music (classical, pop, party tunes, urban, big band, classic rock, oldies, etc.), one of which is called Sounds of the Season. I’ll have to click it on later to see what they’re featuring. It’s great to have around the Christmas holidays, Paddy’s Day, Independence Day...
