Prayer Request for Our Pet - Lady A Golden Retriever Mix
10/28/2014 | TNoldman

Posted on 10/28/2014 1:41:43 PM PDT by TNoldman

We are requesting Prayers for our pet - Lady - a Golden Mix that is nearing the end of her time with us. She is a rescue dog and has been with us about eight years and is now 12. She is a wonderful companion and friend.

Our excellent caring Vet has sent her home to be with us during this closing time.

I will sign off for now as my screen is getting blurry...

Ah Painful time to all who’ve given a heart to a dog. Bowing head with you.

Been there many times. It always sucks at the moment and takes time but that is what happens.

Thanks on the TL

My prayers for Lady. May her passing be as peaceful as possible, held in the love of her family. It hurts a lot to lose a furbaby, they take a piece of our hearts with them. All of us who have been in your shoes understand the pain. Blessings.

Sunday will be one year anniversary of a good 4 legged friend of mine. I want you to know that those last few months of her life we were attached at the hip although I work full time. Afterwork, I would take her outside to walk around with her. I am so happy I did that. I will never forget those special walks.

One year later no easier but I know her pain is over.

Thank God you have this quiet time with your Golden. I will be thinking about you today. XO

As those of us who risk inviting a pet to join us in our lives know all too well, from the first moment we meet these precious ones, a contract is made. It is one that we already know ahead of time will end in a sad farewell, as their lifespans are but a fraction of ours. Yet...we still make the investment of our hearts. The joy, love, companionship, loyalty and friendship they bring makes their departure bearable and, that they share their only chance at life invested with us, brings a gratitude at the end that comforts our hearts when the time comes to say goodbye.

I'm praying that you and your family are comforted and remember Lady in her glory years and the wonderful, loving and blessed life you shared with her. I hope she has taught you that the investment is SO worth it and you take that risk once again.

You are right. It’s very hard to keep “hovering, coaxing, and cajoling” trying to put off that moment, though...but you are right.

My heart goes out to you today...it is just so darned difficult to deal with the loss of a beloved pet, but please take some consolation in knowing that you did the most loving thing, by adopting her, caring for her "for better or worse", and giving her a happy home for as many years as she had.

As others have said here, it does break your heart to lose them, but as grief-stricken as I have been so many times, I have never regretted having any of my dogs. They immeasurably enrich our lives, and we do even more so for them, especially with rescue dogs.

I pray you will have a peaceful mourning for your little girl, knowing that she had a happy life thanks to you, and that your grief now will be short compared to the years of love you shared.

Also, I have on good authority that of course there are dogs in Heaven. It could not be Heaven otherwise. We'll find out if/when we get there I suppose!

Sending sympathy and prayers to you and yours.
