Lodging: Lone Star Yogi
34843 Betka Rd. Waller, TX 77484
Meals, Thursday Dinner: Catering pick-up from Carl's BBQ
21290 Hwy 290 Cypress, Texas 77429
We could pick up the grub and eat at the Lodge.
Not a lot of choices in Waller to pick from.
We could meet there for lunch on the Recon and try it out.
Other venues: Restaurants near Waller, Tx
Friday Breakfast went well last time, although time consuming. Am up to doing it again.
Friday's dinner will be TheMom's choice!
There is a Wallmart and a Kroger's in Cypress.
I'm not taking any chances of trying to find Margarita Mix there, so I'll bring 2 dozen cans with me!!
Saturday Breakfast: There is an IHOP on the way to the range.
26301 Northwest Highway Cypress, TX 77429
They have an overflow room in the back that we may be able to rangle for ourselves.
We need to call the week of the shoot and beg for it! They get busy around 9 AM.
I've never had a problem with the food or service at any IHOP.
Saturday Lunch: Don't know, but if Charlie stays true to past history, he's got this...
Back-up Plan: Restaurants near Cypress, TX
Saturday night snack: Can do the BBQ Shrimp again...and other stuff.
We had a lot of leftover food and some of it went to waste. If folks want to bring and share, I hope they'll let us know so we don't over buy stuff.
Put up this thread to help keep things organized.
It’s just some ideas to kick around.
Would like to keep the traffic on this thread low so we don’t have to dig through it for info...
Ping the staff as ya see fit!
Whatever TCMS is it sounds like fun. What is it? Can’t promise I’ll make it but if I’m in the area....
Staff Ping...
I will send an email this evening to the range to get info/pricing on having an event there.
Shoot day will be May 9th, as that is close to the first shoot date.
May is crawfish season ~ I think a big ole batch of crawfish and gumbo would be a fantastic meal for Friday night.
We are getting to big to have the Saturday morning breakfast at a restaurant, the last few have taken to long. Folks can grab some donuts and/or kolaches from Shipleys or taquitos from Whataburger.
We need some easy snacks for Saturday night ~ most of us are full from Charlie’s lunch and pooped from a day at the range.
If I am not working I will cook. Although I am retired, I do work every other weekend. It gives me “play money” for important things like nice weapons, travel and Texas Cowboy Shoots.
Looking forward to next year.
Question: The weather in October this year was absolutely great. Do we want to do this in May or next fall? If May, it needs to be early May or it could be hot as hell in Houston.
I very much enjoyed being with the TC Gang this year. We need to adopt “Windflier and Liberty Bell” into the Houston Gang. They are one of us.
ps
I never realized what two pounds of tannerite could do. That barrel was hauling ass straight up. Any higher and we would have to call Air Traffic Control for clearance. I HAD FUN at the range and even more fun just being with “you all.”
Libertybel and I did our best to put a dent in that pile of food, but there was only so much we could carry to the little golf cart.
I was wishing I could back my truck down there, 'cause I knew a lot of it would get tossed.
Glad I found this.
Let me know when and how much and I’ll help you pay for the margarita mix. That’s gonna leave a mark in your wallet. :)
What do you think about setting up a GoFundMe page or using PayPal or something ahead of time for food costs? With attendance on the rise, gathering cash at the shoot will get tedious. Might make it easier to purchase stuff beforehand. Just a passing thought.
Also, if it’d help, I volunteer to keep a spreadsheet of (& share) who’s bringing what and how much so we’ll know what we have and don’t waste food. We could also keep track of equipment & kitchen stuff. Charlie needed a second camp stove, which I could’ve brought, and I could’ve brought extra chairs, tables, blenders, mixers, serving bowls, etc. if I had known we’d need them.
Just wanna say I loved TC and I am thrilled for him that you all are still doing this! Have fun!
