Ivan Cobarrubias says he kept his seat during the morning pledge at Monte Vista Middle School in San Jacinto earlier this month because the words "under God" in it violate his beliefs.

I wonder where he got the idea to do this?

Make him stand, and recite the POA, except those portions he does not want to pledge. Atheist or not, he still better support the USA!!!

>>Conservatives should ask themselves why they want the government schools to force their children to pledge allegience to the Federal flag.

I don’t want my child pledging allegiance to the Federal flag.

Allegiance is earned.<<

Always Support your Country, Support your Government WHEN IT EARNS Your Respect.

The flag is OUR National flag, NOT our Federal flag.

As usual, a conga line of FReepers come out screaming in defense of “the pledge.”

The “Pledge of Allegiance” explicitly denies the right of secession, which is a NATURAL RIGHT that is affirmed in the Declaration of Independence. That the people have the NATURAL RIGHT of secession is among the “self-evident truths” listed in the Declaration. (Yes. There are more of them than just “life, liberty, and the purfuit of happinefs.”)

And the people, when they formed the federal government, never surrendered the natural right of secession. And if they had attempted to surrender it, the Constitution would have been corrupt and invalid from day one.

Please, people. Get over your unthinking, jingoistic fetish about “the pledge”!

Don't stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance = Good.

Wear an American flag tee shirt to school = Bad.

Got it.
