Bellevue staffers call-in ‘sick’ after Ebola patient arrives

By Jamie Schram and Larry Celona

An extraordinary number of Bellevue Hospital staffers called in sick on Friday rather than treat the city’s first Ebola patient — and those who showed up were terrified to enter his isolation chamber, sources told The Post. “The nurses on the floor are miserable with a ‘why me?’ attitude, scared to death and overworked because all their co-workers called out sick,” one source said. “One nurse even went as far as to pretend she was having a stroke to get out of working there, but once they cleared her in the ER they sent her back up,” the source added.

Can't say I blame them. As we have learned from Benghazi, the Treason party will go so far as to allow people to die rather than risk their party and the image of The One before an election.

"Is their anything more important than ME?"

Since Obama wants to fly them here, I think he should help treat them.

I don't know why the CDC doesn't put together multiple teams teams of medical personal trained to handle Ebola cases as they occur...in lieu of local hospital workers

Putting Ebola patents in hospitals that have never handled such cases before are bond to make life threatening mistakes do to inexperience and lack of rote training in handling PPE and patent care...

They should send all flights with people from west Africa to Gitmo and make them wait 21 days. It will be the new Ellis island. Now if we can seal the southern border?

One thing Nigeria did was put together such a team of volunteers, the next thing they did was house them on site so there wasn’t any back and forth with the chance of contaminating their homes and belongings or transmitting the virus to their families. They paid the nurses something like 10X their normal salaries to compensate for their essentially living in quonset huts with camper potties for the duration.

No nurses called in at the hospital in Dallas.

Not surprising the Liberia government is seemingly smarter than the Obama administration....

That seems to be the case in Dallas, they had no experience so they caught the disease. And of course The One takes the credit after one of them is cured.....

Nigeria != Liberia

:)

Liberia has totally dropped the ball. Nigeria handled it far better than I thought they would and I was suitably impressed with their results. They’ve got a LOT more money than Liberia though, Nigeria is a member of OPEC. They could afford to throw a lot of money and people at the problem. At one point they had 20K people under surveillance.

That’s because the nurses in Dallas were not unionized.

And THIS is why Obama has called up the Nat Guard and reserve. They can be ORDERED to go in and treat them, when the civilian nurses refuse.

I went to see my primary care doctor a couple of weeks ago for a routine exam.I mentioned to him that I was traveling to East Africa next month to visit some game parks. My doctor is a senior staff member of one of Harvard Medical School's major teaching hospitals...IOW,he's no "local yokel".When I told him his reply was "you're going *where*?!" And then he went on to say that he "wouldn't even fly over" Africa, let alone set foot there. When leaving he said to me,in all seriousness,"if you get sick don't come here".

And given what I've read I don't blame him...or the staff at Bellevue.

And at the time nobody was talking about quarantine of 21 days for all the staff who see a patient . Who the hell wants to be imprisoned in the hospital for the duration of time of treatment PLUS 21 days? To minimize exposure of other staff, you can bet they will work those exposed like dogs, and probably give them any new patients that come in. You could end up trapped for months. No thanks.
