“Your synapsis are glitched
What did you see ?
People texting or people distracted by a ringing ‘phone?”

As they say on ESPN sports: C’MON MAN
The ad depicts someone driving down the road, it then simulates a text being sent to everyone in the theater at the same time there is a crash as if he/she were communicating with the moviegoers. The moviegoers are shocked that someone they just received a text from has crashed and is likely badly injured or dead.

They were driving on the wrong side of the road!

That happens when the car's steering wheel is messed up.

I am sorry for your loss.

A close family member of mine (I won't anything more detailed in case people I know see this message) lost his life when he was run over by a car. The driver of the car was not drunk, wasn't texting, and wasn't on drugs. It didn't make it any easier to deal with.

Where's the ad campaign to deal with my grievance?

It's Japan ..

The wheel is on the right and they drive on the left ... like in England.

I know. I was just playing along with the other poster. In the old Adam West Batman, Batman reminded Robin, the Boy Wonder, that the English drive on the opposite side of the road when they were in England, as if he wouldn’t notice. Sometiems it’s fun to play ugly American.

DO NOT TEXT AND DRIVE AND SHARE THE ROAD!

The Honda motorcycle rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The rider's reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident.

The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department.

Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be new drivers, or new motorcycle owners and especially everyone you know who has a MOBILE phone!!! A picture is worth a thousand words.

Save a life. Stop talking on mobile phones and Texting while trying to drive.

The life you save may be your own....

(IIRC, this happened in Northern Europe, Belgium, perhaps)

So you’re OK with 30,000+ fatalities on our nation’s roads, but you just don’t like the ones involving distracted drivers?

The whole purpose of the clip was to put all of the people in the audience in the place of the driver. When the phones rang they all looked down at the phones, and while they were looking down the car “they” were driving crashed.

That graphic and the description of the incident actually demonstrates an important point in motor vehicle safety.

Was the driver of the VW who was talking on the cell phone the real problem here, or was the motorcycle traveling at 85 mph the bigger issue?

If I'm driving after a night of heavy drinking and I'm involved in an accident because someone runs a red light, am I really the one at fault -- even if I have a BAC of 0.20?

If you really want to stir the pot, try bringing Divine Providence into the picture!

The gist of public service announcements like this (I do not like them either), is to lessen the probability of negligence in contributing to injuries and death. The old anti-drug announcements regarding heroin (shooting up) had a positive impact on me back in the day: I stopped at snorting coke. BTW, you may see me texting while driving a bulldozer around town.

Can someone explain to me how a theater was able to send a text to a bunch of people just because they connected to the Wi-Fi? And how did they just happen to film a group of people that almost ALL left their ringers on?

So. I watched the YouTube and typed this reply on my drive home from work.

Color me unimpressed with a gimmick.

Of course, I traded in a galaxy note because it was too big to conveniently text and drive...

I’m sorry for the loss of the posters loved one to a drunk driver. Its not an apt comparison.

What bothers me about this YouTube is the more hip than me condescension. I’m not so easily swayed by people convinced they know better than me lecturing down to me.

No but prosecuting cellphone/texting driving as they do 0.08 BAC driving (heading down to 0.05 and then 0.03, Sweden is 0.01) would do something to fix the problem.

My neck is #@!$ed up for life by such a selfish b**** driver in a Porche SUV.

I've been rear-ended twice at red lights and run off the road (Interstate) once by these self-centered A-holes.

And while I'm at it, HUD's (Glass) aren't the solution either, they may be even worse if set to pop up instantly. At least with cells you can complete a tricky driving maneuver before answering.

Turn 'em off while driving, please.
