Perhaps it because I’m female and not US-born. I have vivid memories of how it feels to be groped in broad daylight. I would never think to touch anybody’s anything. And if a moron thinks it’s ok to do something like this (1. appropriate someone’s person, 2. wet the fingers with a bodily fluid to increase the level of discomfort, 3. quasi-penetrate an orifice), I would hope law enforcement wouldn’t blow it off as ‘trivial’. It’s NOT trivial to me, hence the opprobrium.
Morons are everywhere, even in the military.
No one is saying it was okay. No one is saying he shouldn’t get punished. But this was not female genitalia. If it had been me, LE would have blown it off, without likely even an arrest. He certainly would not be getting felony charges.
At the end of the day, this was still just a stupid move that caused no lasting harm, and you shouldn’t destroy a life over it. Understand that Felony charges have serious affects. This is at best a misdemeanor offense.
There was an article the other day about restoring rights to felons. This is a prime example. Felony used to actually mean something. Hence the deprivation of certain rights for being a felon.
The moron was drunk. For this stupid act, he could loose significant rights like voting and his 2nd Amendment. Is that proportional to his actions? Not a chance. Fine him and give him community service. But calling this a felony is just plain stupid.
Racist! You can’t say Indian!
