If I were a straight man living in NY, I wouldn’t want any dude touching me. But I doubt this is why these “young men” and “anxious”. Probably has to do with the drugs that they are hiding.

“especially young black men.”

...and there lies the reason for the article. Bottom line is don’t act like a thug and it will greatly cut down on your chances of being stopped.

Stop and frisk causes anxiety in young men, study claims

Is the headline implying young women find stop and frisk calming?

No cop has a right to "stop and frisk" anyone unless there is probable cause.

Fitting a certain profile is not probable cause. Walking in "a known drug area" is not probable cause.

If you disagree, then perhaps you're OK with cops searching your car or your house, just because they feel like it. Same difference.

“... may be leading to elevated levels of anxiety ...”

Unless you are really drunk, being confronted by a police officer leads to elevated levels of anxiety no matter what color your skin is or how old you are.

While I agree that the Stop and Frisk has lowered the crime rate in Yew York City, I cannot for the life of me see how it passes muster with the fourth amendment.
But then again, New York and New York City have not been a hot bed of constitutionality for about 150 years.

This is a good litmus test to see who are good conservatives and who are yahoos.

Conservatives believe in the Bill of Rights. Even for minorities.

The Precedent Case is Terry Vs Ohio...the stop and frisk is not like the description, there are requirements to the officer’s belief in his right to frisk:

I would have heightened anxiety, as well, if I am carrying drugs with me.

Sure, if by “anxious” the article means their awareness that they are breaking the law and could go to jail. Poor dears.

I have difficulty understanding how this could possibly be legal, there has to be probably cause. I’m surprised it’s stood up in court.

If you are a free person, it should. If you are a slave, what does it matter? You are the property of the State and its agents anyway. The Constitution reads that until you are proved guilty to the extent of a reasonable doubt, you are considered to be innocent. But the reality is that over the years, the sheep traded their birthright for a bowl of Government stew. In the guise of being made to feel “secure”.
