Id like to know how a CHP Sgt. came up with $115K, shy of putting his residence up as collateral. Typically, perps only need to come up with 10% of the bail amount. They go to a bail bondsman who comes up with the rest. If the perp shows up for trial the bondsman keeps the 10% as a fee. If they don't show up for trial the bail bondsman breaks their legs and then sues them for the other 90%. It's basically loan sharking.
