Force was excessive particularly with a pregnant woman. However, it would not be a difficult thing to call ahead and inform police, maybe even ask for an escort or for EMT to meet them.

Thirty miles an hour over the speed limit, imagine the crash that would have been. Getting Safely to the hospital should be the main concern, not flying down the highway 30 miles an hour over the speed limit, also there are other folks on the roads who don’t need their lives endangered because expectant parents are panicking.

Police officers are trained to observe. How can the officer not notice that the woman is extremely large in the belly area and is also in LABOR? Non-observant enough to put her on the ground and at gunpoint?

Maybe the officer needs a new eyeglass prescription.

Cops were stupid, but then so was she. Cops make the same mistake with speed in an emergency. She and they forget this little life lesson.
“What is the first thing you have to do to win a race?” Answer? “Finish the race.”

Simply put, even in an emergency, you have to measure your speed. If you don’t make it, no amount of speed will do you any good.
Ever notice the difference between police and fire rescue at intersections. Cops blast through, counting on people to realize that a cop is coming at full throttle. Fire and ambulance guys slow down, blast the horn, etc. How often do you hear about them getting into a wreck at an intersection. They don’t assume or get caught up in the excitement of the moment.

First, worry about finishing the race. Then worry about finishing it a little faster.

It may or not be primitive, but when my first was born in 1964, my ‘involvement’ was to implant the seed.
For the most part, us ‘common folk’ were not allowed ANYWHERE near the Delivery Room, Hospitals had ENFORCED visiting hours, the husband waited in a smoke filled waiting room (if one chose to go to the hospital to wait). It was ‘rare’ that people ‘rushed’ to the hospital at break neck speed as the expectant mother was admitted and waited out the birth, under supervision.
Mothers also weren’t ‘kicked out’ while the afterbirth was still ‘fresh’.

As the one poster indicated, should have contacted 911 and explained the situation - then when they arrive, they are there to assist, they don’t have to ascertain why you were driving 30+ miles over the limit. Even if he was on with 911, he could have explained it while the police were attempting to stop them. If the upcoming parents can’t comprehend common sense actions, they probably shouldn’t be parents.

I still think we put to much emphasis on MARRIAGE licenses, we should be having people prove they can raise a child, financially and emotionally.

Police force pregnant woman to the ground at gunpoint for speeding - even though she was in LABOR and on the way to the hospital

This isn't police work, and its beyond even brutality.

It's deliberate inhumanity.

Yes! You can have a knuckle dragging badge monkey delivering your child with the help of his burger hook.

Stole the all time FR quote from my hero.
