A state judge issued lengthy prison sentences Monday (Oct. 13) to two men recently convicted of robbing a man of about $500 near Covington in June 2013.
Jamaal Calloway, 19, of New Orleans, was sentenced as a career criminal to 75 years in prison for armed robbery and 40 years for being a felon in possession of a firearm, District Attorney Walter Reed's office said in a news release. Those sentences are to run concurrently.
Regis Chatman, 22, of Covington, was given a 40-year sentence for armed robbery with a firearm, the release said.

Nice to see JUSTICE. These ‘youths’ probably wish they had done their thing in New Orleans, where they would probably would have been free by the end of the year.
Good, looks like Jamaal will be 134 years-old when he gets out.
Meanwhile obama gives 2,000 automatic weapons to the drug cartels in Mexico resulting in hundreds of murders and nothing happens to this mass killer.
47. Two thirds time off for good behavior.
Yeah but he name be Jamaal yo! Blood is down wif it, no what “I’m sayin’? Word yo!
My guess is that the defense will appeal the sentences as cruel and unusual punishment because they are just teens and were in the process of turning their lives around before this unfortunate incident. Additionally, the court didn’t give proper consideration to the fact that they were abused by unnamed relatives and incorrectly potty trained which resulted in their retarded social development.
