For those of us who have family members who are addicted to drugs, and simply destroy every relationship they have ever had to feed their drug use. You have to let them reach rock bottom. Obviously, he’s not admitted to himself that this is rock bottom.

I have a brother who is a homeless person, he is destructive, and drugs come before all else.

Let him rot.

A stipend administered by an attorney with strings attached that cannot possibly be misused would not be a strain for these people to provide. You at least try to take care of your own, no matter how stupid or undeserving they may be, imho.

Yup. They are adults after all. And even if you wanted to force them, you couldn’t.

That is why substance abuse is such a bad thing. I replaces all else — relationships, family, new family/wife/husband children, career, etc.

And when they finally get it under control and are clean, life has left them behind...years before. People that they knew, family that they knew have all moved on. Precious years forever gone.
